Qatar's Foreign Ministry will be providing a gift of $10 million to the Palestinian Authority, on condition that it does not fall into Hamas hands. The money will be transferred to the government of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas, and is earmarked for the Arabs in Gaza, who Qatar's monarch, Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, says are suffering humanitarian hardships.

The statement by the Qatari Foreign Ministry did not specify exactly how the funds will be transferred to residents of Gaza. This will likely pose a challenge, as Hamas is the controlling force in the region.

Qatar, bordered by Bahrain and Saudi Arabia and ensconced in the waters of the Persian Gulf, has the highest GDP per capita in the world, largely due to possessing the world's third largest gas reserves.

Past transfers of money by Abbas's PA to Gaza Arabs reached Hamas terrorists.
