Senator Bayh, Dore Gold Address Jerusalem Conference
Dore Gold, former Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, told the Jerusalem Conference on Tuesday of the non-ballistic implications of a nuclear Iran.
Two-term United States Senator Evan Bayh (D-Ind.), who made nationwide news in the U.S. on Monday when he announced he would not run for re-election, also addressed the Conference, via video [below].
Gold said that when people think of a nuclear Iran, “They usually think of missiles – first hitting the Middle East, then reaching Europe, and later even the United States. But Iran is the world’s biggest exporter of terrorism and subversion in the world; what will happen when all this is carried out with a nuclear umbrella?”
He noted that the United States was able to respond to the 9/11 attacks by removing the Taliban from power – but asked, “Will it be able to do the same when the terrorism is supported by a nuclear power?” In short, he believes that the balance of power in the world will be changed if Iran acquires nuclear capabilities.
