Private Victor Sheverdin, 22, was killed Friday, apparently when a bullet was accidentally discharged from a weapon held by his friend. Sheverdin's name was released Saturday night by the IDF spokesperson's office. The Kiryat Motzkin resident left behind a wife, in her sixth month of pregnancy, along with two daughters, age three and one and a half years.

The bullet apparently came from a gun held by a friend of Sheverdin's Ilya Ardiniev, a security guard, who told police that the two had been "drawing their weapons" - with Sheverdin using his IDF issued weapon, and Ardiniev using a handgun he had for work purposes. Police said that their initial investigation showed that Ardiniev called rescue workers after the incident, telling them that he had shot Sheverdin.
