About 800 high school seniors from dozens of Jewish schools in France arrive in Israel this week under the auspices of the "Seniors in Blue and White" program of the Jewish Agency.
The students will tour throughout Israel and will investigate various higher-education opportunities in the country. During their visit, representatives of the group will present family members of kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit with a special banner, expressing their solidarity with them.
Sgt Gilad Shalit was kidnapped in 2006 by Hamas terrorists, who continue to hold him captive in Gaza. He holds dual Israeli-French citizenship through his father, Noam, who made Aliyah to Israel from France.
For the first time since the project was founded in 2003, the students will be coming to Israel on three the Arkia airline flights. Arkia recently signed an agreement allowing it to bring immigrants and youth from France and other places worldwide to Israel.
