(IsraelNN.com) The 50 bikes which arrived at the Jewish Agency Absorption Center in Mevasseret Tzion Monday were a Bat Mitzvah gift in more ways than one. They were given by a 12 year old Bat Mitzvah girl in New York, to Ethiopian immigrants living in Israel and celebrating their Bar and Bat Mitzvahs.

Peter Kash came to the center representing his daughter Shantal who decided to celebrate her Bat Mitzvah by bringing smiles to the young immigrants. Through a charity project she organized, Shantal is giving 100 new bicycles to the Ethiopian children.

The ceremony in which the kids joyfully received their new bikes coincided with Sigd, the annual Ethiopian pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
