New Roadmap: ‘Key to Peace is Ending the Peace Process’

(IsraelNN.com) Backers of a Palestinian Authority state on most of the land of Israel are now using the term “diplomatic process” instead of “peace process” because they know it won’t bring peace, according to the head of the Israeli Initiative project.

Founded by former Tourism Minister Benny Elon, the Israeli Initiative proposes “a moral solution that addresses people, instead of a political solution that perpetuates the struggle, violence and poverty. A moral solution is one based on Israel's right to exist within defensible borders, while preserving its character as the state of the Jewish people."

Yoav Sorek, a former aide to Elon and the director of the Israeli Initiative, told Arutz 7, “The key to true peace is stopping the ‘peace process.’"

“There are different alternatives to the failed peace plans of Defense Minister Ehud Barak," Sorek said, "but for some reason he insists on sticking to the terrible Oslo Accords. Every person who raises the banner for continued negotiations with the Palestinian Authority acts as if he was not here 15 years ago and never saw that the 'peace process' brings no results other than violence.”

Sorek added, “Everyone knows that a PA state will not solve the Arabs’ problems and that they do not need a country. The root of the problem is the situation of Arabs in Judea, Samaria and Gaza” who he said feel displaced. They usually are referred to as refuges.

He explained that the proposed PA state has no natural borders and cannot exist as an independent entity.  He added, "The steps that have to be taken have nothing to do with the diplomatic process.”

Sorek maintained that several U.S. congressmen favor the Israeli Initiative option of turning Arabs from “refugees into citizens, in countries having an economic and political future, instead of a puppet state lacking the capability of independent existence, as outlined in the Oslo Agreement.” He suggested the United States and Chile as countries where Arabs could supply the demand for manual laborers.

He lamented the disregard for the Israeli Initiative by most Israelis, including residents of Judea and Samaria, who he said are more interested in policies such as the proposed freeze on building for Jews in eastern Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria. Nationalists "have to stop burying their heads in the sand and hoping for the Messiah,” Sorek asserted.
