Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon managed to find time last week to celebrate the holiday of Sukkot -- and the inaugural anniversary of the new Aish HaTorah Executive Torah Learning program -- despite his busy schedule.

Ayalon was guest of honor at the Simchat Beit HaSho'eva celebrations that coincided with the one-year anniversary of the program, held in Tel Aviv. The program is geared towards professionals with busy schedules who would still like to find time to learn with a rabbi.

Also speaking at the event was Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger and National Infrastructures Minister Uzi Landau, both of whom spoke about the importance of Torah and tradition.

"The Torah is the foundation of our existence as a People," Ayalon said, as he explained why he tries to make time each week to learn with Rabbi Ephraim Shore of Yeshiva Aish HaTorah. "It is the basis for our claims and rights to this Land."

The Deputy Foreign Minister talked about his long-standing support for the yeshiva and the courses that he attended there, including the Discovery program.
