The “case of the missing Prime Minister” was solved Monday evening when Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu reappeared after a visit at a secret military facility for nearly 12 hours. His official schedule, distributed to the media in the morning, stated that he would be on a “military tour” until late afternoon, but he was nowhere to be seen until long after dark.

Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert performed a disappearing act during his term of office by flying to Jordan for an unannounced visit, and media speculated the Prime Minister Netanyahu had done the same.

However, after the Prime Minister re-emerged, his aides explained, without adding details, that the visit to the unnamed military facility lasted longer than planned.

It is known that Defense Minister Ehud Barak did not accompany him on the visit but that he was joined by Major-General Meir Kalifi, the Prime Minister’s military secretary, and probably by national security advisor Uzi Dayan.
