Two IDF soldiers and one Border Policeman were hurt Friday in a violent demonstration by leftists near the villages of Bilin and Naalin. Two of them received medical attention on the spot and one had to be hospitalized.

Security forces arrested Saturday about 30 leftist activists from Israel and other countries after they allegedly entered a closed military zone at Safa, near Bat Ayin. The leftist activists said two of them were hurt and required medical attention because the IDF and Border Police used “excessive force.”

“The Palestinians were afraid to go to their land on their own,” activist Merav Zonshein told the Hebrew-language newspaper Haaretz. The activists claim that local Jews regularly prevent Arab residents from tilling their land.

“This is a lie,” Bat Ayin residents told Arutz Sheva in response. “The only goal of the leftists is to set the area alight and their presence here is unnecessary.”

Seven leftists were arrested in similar circumstances last Saturday.
