PA Women Arrested for Attacking Soldiers
Three young Palestinian Authority Arab women were arrested Thursday for attempting to stab IDF soldiers at checkpoints. Soldiers were unhurt in the attacks.
In the first incident, an Arab woman approached a checkpoint in Beir Zeit, near Ramallah, with an unsheathed knife. Soldiers arrested the woman and brought her to police for questioning.
Later in the day, two teenage Arab girls arrived at the Tomb of the Patriarchs (Maarat Hamachpelah) in Hevron. The two approached a Border Police checkpoint between the Muslim and Jewish sides of the holy site.
Police began searching one girl's bag, and found a knife. The girl threw the knife at the soldiers, just as soldiers found a knife in the second girl's possession as well.
Both teenagers were arrested. Arab sources reported that the two were released later in the day; the report has not been confirmed by Israeli authorities.
A similar incident was reported in the same location on Wednesday, when an Arab man attempted to enter the Tomb of the Patriarchs area with a knife. The man was arrested.
