Security personnel killed a young Arab terrorist who infiltrated into the Jewish community of Beit Haggai near Hevron around 7 a.m. Friday. The local first-response team eliminated the terrorist, and an investigation is underway to determine how he entered the community.
None of the residents was injured except for a member of the first-response team, who suffered very light wounds.
Initial reports said that the terrorist was armed with a knife, but one resident told Israel National News that the attacker was carrying a handgun. The source added that IDF soldiers and the first-response team were conducting a house-to-house search to make sure the terrorist had no accomplices.
Beit Haggai is located across from an industrial area in Hevron, where Defense Minister Ehud Barak recently opened a road to Palestinian Authority traffic that had been closed to Arabs for several years due to previous terrorist attacks.
Hevron Hills Regional Council chairman Tzviki Bar-Chai had warned that the removal of the roadblock would make it easier for terrorists to attack Jews.
