The National Union party convened a large group of local leaders late last week to plan campaign strategy for the upcoming elections.

In attendance were party leader Yaakov "Ketzaleh" Katz, MKs Uri Ariel and Dr. Aryeh Eldad, and Knesset candidate Dr. Michael Ben-Ari.

Former Emunah Women head Rochel Sylvetzky, a prominent supporter, explained why the meeting was being held at the height of war in Gaza: “No, this is not the time for politics as usual, but it is the time to tell people that if they don’t want what’s happening in Gaza to happen right outside their window, then they should support parties that oppose a Palestinian state.”

The party got off to a late start in the current election campaign because of the failed attempt at unity with the National Religious Party, but has already begun compensating.  Latest polls give the National Union four seats, a slight increase from previous surveys.

“This is not a party of politics,” Sylvetzky said, “but rather a party of ideas.”
