He will be sitting shiva, the traditional first seven days of mourning, in Bnei Brak instead of celebrating his 18th birthday with his mother. He began studying at the Hadarat Melech yeshiva last year on the advice of his rabbi in Mexico and made aliyah several months ago.
Norma Rabinovich was 50 years old when she was gunned down in the Muslim
Manuel's rabbi, Yosef Cohen, speaking for Manuel who was too overcome with emotion to talk with reporters, said that Norma left Mexico several months ago but was not sure until a short time ago that she wanted to move to Israel. She frequently visited the Jewish Agency office in Mumbai in order to facilitate her move to Israel and had a ticket in hand for the trip "home."
The Jewish Agency has decided to provide support for the families of those killed in the Mumbai attack from the Fund for the Victims of Terror raised by the United Jewish Communities, according to Jewish Agency chairman Zev Bielski. The decision came along with one by the Israeli government to formally declare all the murdered hostages to be Victims of Terror, a move which allows the families of the victims to become eligible for certain types of support, such as the transportation of their loved ones' bodies back to Israel for burial in the Holy Land.
Norma Rabinovich is the sixth and last victim to be identified in the Chabad House massacre. Also murdered by the terrorists in Mumbai were Chabad Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife Rivka, Yocheved Orpaz, Ben Tzion Chroman and Rabbi Leibish Teitelbaum.
