Arabs in four vehicles, including a tractor, tried Wednesday to run over IDF soldiers at a checkpoint near Sinjil, north of Ramallah. No one was hurt in the attempted attack.

According to an IDF statement, four Arabs in three cars and a tractor arrived at the checkpoint at about 3:00 P.M. An IDF squad signaled one of the cars to stop for inspection. However, instead of stopping the driver accelerated and tried to run over soldiers.

The soldiers reacted promptly and began carrying out the procedure for arresting suspects, which involves firing in the air as a warning. The Arabs were arrested and taken to interrogation.

The IDF initially estimated that the attack was terror motivated but following an initial investigation the military spokesman told the press that this was no longer clear and that the motivation could have been criminal, too.

An Arab terrorist from eastern Jerusalem ran over a group of soldiers and some civilians shortly before 11 p.m. Monday night at Kikar Tzahal near the Jaffa Gate in Jerusalem. The terrorist was driving a private vehicle, a black BMW, when he attacked opposite the entrance to the Old City. He was shot and killed by an IDF soldier who was in the targeted group.
