In the video above, Professor Hillel Frisch of the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies discusses the effectiveness of demolishing terrorists' homes after an attack, especially when the response is not immediate.
Professor Frisch acknowledges that the threat of having their home razed could encourage a family member of the terrorist to intervene or make a deal with Israeli police. But still, he says, the most effective way to deter terrorism is preventive arrest.
"[Demolishing homes] probably has a positive indirect influence, but it's very hard to believe that this really deters the would-be terrorist himself," he said.
The same day he made the order, Defense Minister Barak announced plans to release more terrorists from Israeli jails.
