Israeli Air Force pilots struck back hard on Thursday, confirming at least one terrorist was hit at the source of a deadly mortar attack launched by Hamas terrorists earlier in the day. It was not clear whether the terrorist was killed.

The IDF confirmed that the gunman was struck down east of the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis, a popular spot from which terrorists often launch rocket and mortar attacks against nearby Israeli communities.

Hamas terrorists claimed that a six-year-old girl was killed and her mother was wounded by the Israeli missile, which they said missed the mark.

The attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz left one man dead and several others wounded, including one in critical condition. The wounded were rushed to Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva.

The Hamas terrorist organization that has controlled Gaza since its takeover of the region a year ago claimed responsibility for the attack.

IDF Also Confirms Terrorist Killed in Hevron

An army spokesperson also confirmed that IDF troops shot and killed a Palestinian Authority terrorist after identifying a group of gunmen in the area around the Judean city of Hevron Thursday afternoon.

The report significantly differed from the PA version, which blamed the death on a feud between two warring local clans.
