The city of Bnei Brak has decided to rename part of Herzl St. in memory of the late Rabbi Shach. Its decision has aroused some objections in the Shinui party. Even MK Zevulun Orlev of the National Religious Party says that it smacks of \"insensitivity and intolerance,\" and warns that secular cities such as Tel Aviv and Haifa may now change their Rabbi Akiva St. to Rabin St. and the like. \"Rabbi Shach definitely deserves a tribute to his greatness, but not something that will become a focal point of another secular-hareidi dispute,\" Orlev said.

Bnei Brak Mayor Rabbi Mordechai Garelitz, however, explained to Arutz-7 today, \"There was nothing ideological about the decision. For years we have been talking of the need to change the name of part of Herzl St. in the city, because as it stands now it causes confusion. At Jabotinsky St., it breaks off and continues northward about 50 meters away, and it often happens that people looking for the upper numbers of Herzl St. can\'t find their way...\" Garelitz dismissed Shinui\'s criticism as just another manifestation of the party\'s anti-religious orientation.
