Six Hamas terrorists were killed and one more wounded in an air strike on their pick-up truck as it drove though central Gaza’s al-Bureij neighborhood Monday evening. One of the men was a local Hamas commander, Muhammed Abu Arrab.
The IDF confirmed the strike, saying the men were responsible for the four Kassam rockets fired at Israeli towns in the western Negev earlier in the day. Hamas spokesman Abu Obeida called the attack "an ugly Zionist slaughter" and threatened an unprecedented response, assumed to mean Hamas will begin using the higher-grade weapons the Islamist group has been smuggling in from Egypt. “If the Zionists are worried about Kassams they should know that we possess even more dangerous weapons," he told reporters.
The IDF says it will “continue to operate against terror for the security and safety of the citizens of Israel.”
Another strike later in the day wounded an Islamic Jihad terrorist in northern Gaza who had just fired a rocket toward Israeli towns from Beit Hanoun. The IDF confirmed the strike, saying it was carried out from the ground.
