Two Gazan Arabs crossed the fence surrounding Gaza along Israel’s pre-1967 borders Friday. The infiltration took place near Kibbutz Meflasim, adjacent to northern Gaza.
The IDF failed to intercept the infiltrators, who were then picked up by a commercial vehicle waiting for them.
It was assumed that the men were planning to carry out a bombing in a major Israeli city. Police were put on high alert and searches were conducted between Gedera and Rechovot, then Petach Tikva and Kfar Kassem.
The men were later apprehended in the Israeli-Arab village of Tira thanks to intelligence information.
The driver of the vehicle has not been apprehended, though police say the men were seeking employment. It is suspected that this is not the first time the Gaza fence has been successfully infiltrated.
