Volunteers from Young Israel in Israel (Yisrael Hatzair, pronounced Ha-Tza'ir) visited several IDF bases just before Purim to distribute over 600 Mishloach Manot packages to soldiers. Mishloach Manot is a package of at least two food items which Jews are bidden to give one another on the holiday of Purim to ensure that everyone has sufficient food for the Purim feast, and to increase love and friendship between Jews.

Led by Danny Moderer, Director of Young Israel in Israel, and Meir Mishkoff, President of American Friends of Yisrael Hatzair, the group visited bases near Shechem and met soldiers taking part in ongoing operations nearby.

Participants wrote that the experience was "truly inspiring, especially meeting the soldiers on duty in Shechem."

The packages were sponsored by Friends of Young Israel throughout the United States and Canada.
