Peres Tells Jordan FM That His State Should be "Model" for PA

Vice Prime Minister Shimon Peres (Labor) met with Jordanian Foreign Minister Hani El-Mulki this morning, telling him that Jordan should serve as a model for the Palestinian Authority in areas of security, economy, and education.

Serving as a role model for the PA would be appropriate for Jordan, who’s population is 70% all Arabs who left Israel since 1948 and their descendents . Prior to his election as Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon was a leading proponent of the idea that Jordan should actually become a Palestinian state instead of creating another one in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza.

The two men also discussed PA-Jordanian-Israeli-U.S. cooperation on a project to build a canal connecting the Red Sea with the Dead Sea. They also discussed various issues relating to tourism and the environment.
