(IsraelNN.com) About 520 members of the National Religious party's (NRP) central body have signed a petition calling on their representatives to stay in the government. The signatories constitute more than half of the party's central organizational body.

The petition states, in part, that the signatories reject the adopted "disengagement" plan, but that they support the NRP remaining in the coalition in order to fight for Gush Katif and Jewish values from within.

The legislative body of the party was elected more than 12 years ago; there have not yet been new internal elections.
