(IsraelNN.com) Prof. Miriam Cohen from the Ben-Gurion University Department of Mathematics was appointed to the National Committee on Information Technology.
Created under the auspices of the Prime Minister’s Office, the new Committee’s mandate is to establish policies and national goals that integrate information technologies for “the benefit of all of Israel’s citizens.”
During Prof. Cohen’s tenure as the Dean of BGU’s Faculty of Natural Sciences, she initiated many cutting-edge interdisciplinary programs – particularly in bioinformatics and nanotechnology – and was among the founders of the University’s Center for Advanced Studies in Mathematics. She is a former president of the Israel Mathematical Union and has served as the Israeli delegate to the Council of the European Mathematical Society.
