MK Yifat Shasha-Biton has sharply criticized the decision of the Supreme Court to hear the petition made by the Movement for Quality Government designed to prevent PM Binyamin Netanyahu from heading a future government.
"The speed with which Judge Mazuz made light of the votes of millions of citizens is testament to the arrogance of the Supreme Court which places itself above the voters and their chosen officials," she wrote on Twitter. "Democracy and the rule of law are to be respected at all times, not just when one finds it convenient to do so. The Supreme Court has no right to meddle in Basic Laws that were legislated years ago simply because they don't like the choices the voters made."
