The Knesset plenum session was concluded earlier than planned today, after it became clear that the first reading on amendments to the Basic Law would not be held today. One of the provisions of the Basic Law (Israel's version of a constitution) stipulates that no more than 18 ministers be appointed; the coalition agreements that have been drawn up between Likud and Blue & White include the appointment of no less than 36 ministers.
The special committee engaged in preparing the necessary legislation for the first reading of the amendments to the Basic Law is continuing its deliberations this afternoon.
