Today (according to some accounts, yesterday) is the yahrtzeit of the Admor Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Vitebsk, a prominent Chassidic Rebbe who led a large group of Jews to settle in the Holy Land some 230 years ago. He was largely responsible for the renewal of Jewish settlement in the Galilee region, specifically in Tzefat, Peki'in, and Tiberias.
This evening at half past eight, there will be an online conference held in his memory, with the participation of Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, the Chief Rabbi of Tzefat, as well as rabbis from the Pri Ha'aretz Yeshiva (named after the Vitebsker Rebbe's sefer) in Rehelim, which will be broadcast on Arutz Sheva.
