Against the backdrop of the coronavirus, the Israel Electric Company informed customers that due to the health danger, the company was prevented from sending meter readers to do the bi-monthly reading and therefore the company had to send assessment-based accounts.

The company's management initiated a move to encourage customers to independently update the digital reading of the meter so that the company can immediately generate a true reporting-based electricity account rather than an estimate.

The Electric Company was pleased at the public response, with 25% of customers who received the message responding to it.
