Tel Aviv district police commander Shlomi Sagi spoke to Reshet Kan Bet about the enforcement of the emergency shutdown orders.
"We can conclude that the operation on the first day of Pesach [Passover] was a success," he said. "We are now planning for even more enforcement on the last day of the festival [next Wednesday]. It is currently permissible to go shopping for essentials, and to travel from one town to another, but we hope that people will stay at home. Police are prepared for the possibility of weeks and even months of shutdown if this is necessary," he added.
"We heard many excuses and complaints from citizens on the first day of the festival," he added. "For instance, from divorced parents who wanted to take their children from one parent to the other. But when we checked things out, it wasn't quite like that, so we take each case and judge it on an individual basis. In general, people are obeying the rules," he concluded.
