The mayor of the Bedouin town of Rahat, Faiz Abu Sahiben, told Reshet Kan Bet that "95% of the weapons in the city are IDF-issue, or police weapons. There are certain elements in the police force who sell weapons. The police should come and retrieve these weapons. I have no means to enforce this, and I refuse to be a police collaborator. They have their own sources of information in any case."
A family member of Abu Sahiben was arrested as a suspect in a shooting incident in the town that saw unknown assailants firing at police vehicles. "The story began last Sunday. I blame the police. They don't patrol here regularly - they only arrive in emergencies. I condemn the shooting incident, but the police haven't succeeded in removing the threat against me - this hasn't finished yet," he said.
