More than 2,000 people participated in a "virtual fair" showcasing National Service slots for the coming year, and hundreds signed up.
"Thousands of people volunteered. We are at the forefront of the battle against coronavirus - everyone understands the importance of National Service," said the director of the National Volunteer Service.
