Of the 6,000 Israelis who turned to Israeli embassies around the world with requests to come home 3,000 have been flown back to Israel. 1,000 were flown from India and 1,100 from Lima, Peru. Hundreds of other Israelis were returned from Australia, Brazil, and Mexico and another hundred from Nepal and Myanmar. In addition, more than a thousand Israelis studying in Moldova, Slovakia, Lithuania,Ukraine, and Romania were also flown home.
The Foreign Ministry organized the flights and thanked the three Israeli airlines -- El Al, Arkia, and Israir -- for their full cooperation in this ongoing endeavor.
