United Torah Judaism (UTJ) chairman MK Moshe Gafni responded to the High Court ruling on the election of a new Knesset speaker, saying:

"In recent years, High Court judges have systematically eliminated the democratic process, and the principle of separation of powers, which is one of the cornerstones of making the determination when the Knesset should convene and what will appear on its agenda. Anyone who values democracy should make every effort to stop their haughtiness."

"From hereonin we will approach them differently. The High Court justices must remember that some of the public supports them, but that more than half of the population are against them, and ultimately [the bigger part] will rule," he said.
