A statement from the Prime Minister's Office clarified that the current limit on the number of tests for coronavirus being performed is not due to a decision made by the prime minister, but rather because of the limit on the number of test kits it is possible to either produce or purchase.
Nonetheless, the PM plans to increase the number of tests performed daily to 14,000 within 2 weeks. 10,000 of these will be used on people showing symptoms of coronavirus, and another 4,000 tests will be performed on a cross-section of the general population.
The Prime Minister's Office added that this plan will place Israel in a leading position in the world as regards testing for coronavirus.
