The Supreme Court has concluded its hearing of the petition submitted by Blue & White against Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein.
MK Avi Nissenkorn (Blue & White) stated: "I am happy that the Court has clarified how important and urgent it is for the Knesset to continue to function at such a time of crisis. Tomorrow, several Knesset committees will be convening: the Committee for Foreign and Security Affairs, the Finance Committee, and the special Health Committee dealing with coronavirus. We must enable MKs to play their part in helping the state to deal with this huge challenge that confronts us.
"We hope that the Court will convene again later this evening to order the government to hold elections for the post of Knesset Speaker immediately," he added. "In a democracy, one must respect the wishes of the majority of Knesset members."
