Supreme Court rejects petition to declare leap year, postpone Pesach

Supreme Court Judge Noam Solberg rejected a petition demanding that the court order the Chief Rabbinate to announce a Jewish leap year, in order to postpone the Pesach festival by a month, due to concerns related to coronavirus.

Solberg explained that such a decision could only be made by a Sanhedrin and that the Supreme Court did not have the authority to add a month to the Jewish year.
