President Rivlin spoke by telephone with King Philippe VI of Spain, discussing the global coronavirus outbreak and reports of hundreds of associated deaths in Spain.
He expressed his feelings of solidarity with the Spanish people, and noted that several Israeli cities are twinned with cities in Spain, such as Tiveria and Tel Aviv. The President thanked the King for the cooperation of his government in recent days in facilitating the return of Israeli citizens from countries in Southern and Central America via Spanish airports.
Rivlin also spoke with the Armenian President and discussed possible cooperation and exchange of information regarding measures to deal with the current situation. The Armenian President thanked Rivlin and said that his country will be happy to receive information on ways of dealing with the situation, and noted that this is a matter that calls for joint global efforts.
