Italy reported 793 coronavirus deaths in the past day, the largest number so far in 24 hours.
More than 4,800 have died there, making Italy the outbreak epicenter for Europe, with Spain the second-worst hit with more than 1,300 dead. Britain has seen a 25% increase in fatalities, with more than 5,000 infected.
