Aryeh Eldad, former chief medical officer of the IDF and former right-wing Knesset member, expressed astonishment at the Israeli government footing the bill for El Al flights for Israeli tourists in Peru. "Because of the corona, airplane tickets suddenly became very expensive and Israelis touring in the Third World expect to be rescued by us because that's what they're used to, including those living there who feel we are still responsible for getting them back to Israel."
