The leadership of the Israeli Democracy Institute, President Yohanan Plesner and his deputies, Professor Yuval Shani and Professor Karnit Flug - former Bank of Israel Governor - sent a sharp letter to Knesset Speaker Yoel-Yuli Edelstein on Thursday, saying, "We have heard, with great concern, about your decision not to allow the establishment of the Knesset Regular Committee."
They added, "The significance of this decision is that at this fateful time for Israel, when the country is facing an acute health crisis that has dramatic implications for all areas of life in Israel, including the wellbeing of the public, individual liberties and the Israeli economy, the Knesset of Israel - the country's top democratic institution -continues to be paralyzed."
