An El Al plane took off on Wednesday night from the Ben Gurion Airport towards Lima, the capital of Peru, to rescue Israelis who got stuck in South America because of the spread of the coronavirus. This is the first of four planes the company will send to Peru.

At the same time, hundreds of Israelis waiting for a flight from Cusco, Peru to the capital Lima, to board the El Al flight home, were notified that their flight had been delayed. The flight is expected to depart from Cusco in the morning (local time).
