Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit said in a statement, Tuesday morning, "The outbreak of the coronavirus in the world presents an unprecedented challenge to the countries of the world and requires far-reaching measures in a variety of areas of life to protect civilian and public health and the economic and social stability of the countries. So it is [with] the State of Israel, which is currently facing enormous challenges."
Dr. Mandelblit continued, "We, in the Attorney General's Office, and I, personally, have been accompanying the government's work from the beginning of the crisis, and are working to provide the state's authorities with the legal tools needed to effectively deal with the virus, while ensuring that these steps are taken according to law. Even in an emergency - and this is indeed an emergency - the government must act according to law, and so it is being done in practice."
