The Water Authority made it clear on Monday that the water sector is facing the challenges of the coronavirus crisis without creating significant gaps in water supply and sewerage treatment capabilities, noting that they are defined as essential enterprises and are required to continue operating at all times due to the importance of water supply and sewage disposal as existential products to continue the routine of living in the country.
The Authority has provided clear guidelines to water suppliers, calling for adding shifts, as well as control and operations rooms in case of infection among employees and examining the training of additional workers to operate those rooms. Water companies have been instructed to look into and begin transitioning to online customer service for residents and a mutual assistance program between companies in the event of a situation where many employees of one corporation would be isolated for fear of infection. It also called on citizens to update companies of isolation before the arrival of field employees to avoid contact, in accordance with Health Ministry guidelines.
