In the past few hours, Chairman Yitzhak Ravitz of the Kiryat Yearim local council has approached the Ministry of the Interior to request budgetary assistance in light of the situation encountered by the council and the isolation of some 1,500 residents due to the coronavirus.
Under the guidance of Interior Minister Aryeh Deri, due to the need for immediate response, the ministry's Director General, Mordechai Cohen and the ministry's budget department worked to expedite the bureaucratic process and released an initial budget of 500,000 shekels to assist the council in the face of the cash-flow distress it is facing.
