Religious Kibbutz (Hakibutz Hadati) Secretary-General Amitai Porat says the state should direct soldiers, high school students and other volunteers to help harvest citrus fruits and strawberries because every day the damage to farmers is increasing due to the coronavirus crisis.
Having attended an emergency meeting on Wednesday, Porat said, "In the short term, the labor shortage problem must be addressed, especially the picking of citrus and strawberries just before the produce is depleted - various tools must be operated, including Israeli workers, young people, high school students, volunteers for Hashomer Hechadash (New Guard) and soldiers."
