Member of Knesset Matan Kahana (Yamina) called on Thursday morning to cut public sector workers' wages immediately to allow the government to deal with the coronavirus crisis.

Kahane said, "Public sector workers, who earn more than double the average wage in the economy, including members of the Knesset and budgetary pensioners, must be cut down immediately and at least until after the crisis ends, in order to allow the government budgetary room to maneuver for emergencies, despite the Treasury's currently empty coffers." He noted that the Corona crisis is seriously hurting the private sector, saying he public sector may not continue on a "business as usual" basis.
