The municipality of the southeastern Polish town of Leżajsk (Lizhensk) announced, Wednesday evening, that it would not allow the observance of next week's anniversary of the passing of Rabbi Elimelech of Lizhensk as a mass event prohibited due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The observance, held on the 21st of Adar, draws tens of thousands from around the world every year to the grave of the rabbi, one of the great founders of the hasidic movement. There was an unconfirmed reort on Wednesday that a patient was diagnosed for the virus.
