European Union wants law to extend life of manufactured products

The European Union may soon pass a law that would obligate manufacturers of cell phones, computers, and home appliances to make their products repairable. This law would address the current reality of "built-in obsolescence" which renders products unusable and unrepairable as soon as they malfunction for any reason.
