Meretz Chairman MK Nitzan Horowitz toured E1 together with Peace Now, after the Defense Minister's decision to pave a route to connect the PA village of A-Za'im near Ma'aleh Adumim with the PA villages on the other side of the area (Anata, Hizma, and a-Ram).
"Bennett and Bibi are taking advantage of the endless transition government and are operating without a mandate to carry out an abduction on the ground and destroy the prospect of an agreement with the Palestinians. The annexation road is part of a broad process that includes building permits on E1 and Givat Hamatos. These are devastating measures designed to cut off the West Bank and East Jerusalem and destroy the two-state solution.
"It's no coincidence that so far the Israeli governments have avoided such a move, which will be a lamentation for generations. The huge financial cost also casts a heavy shadow on the plan. At such a time, in anticipation of what could be a serious economic crisis because of coronavirus, such money is poured into a delusional project," Horowitz added.
