The Bituach Leumi National Insurance Institute has published guidelines for the payment of unemployment benefits to workers who have been put on leave without pay and tour guides due to the spread of the coronavirus and the crisis in the tourism industry.
Employees who have been put on unpaid vacation for at least 30 days will be eligible. To lower expenses for employers who have been adversely affected, the institue has eliminated the need to use up time off before starting the benefits for workers who are put on leave over the next three months.
Salaried or independent tour guides who do not own a vehicle for transporting tourists are eligible. For the purposes of calculating unemployment benefits, Bituach Leumi will recognize their income even if they worked with a private party who is not an agent, without a pay slip, but with invoices and receipts.
