Last weekend, two life-saving surgeries were performed at the Schneider Center for Pediatrics from the Clalit Group: Liver transplant surgery for a 1-year-old baby from Ramla and kidney transplant surgery for a 12-year-old girl from Jerusalem.
The first transplant surgery was performed on Tehilla, a 1-year-old baby who suffered congenital malformation and needed a liver donation to save her life. Liver transplant surgery is complex surgery, especially at such a young age, and requires considerable experience and skill.
Immediately afterwards, a complex and rare surgery of a two-kidney donor bloc was performed on 12-year-old Reamas, who suffered from kidney failure and was treated for several years in dialysis. Tehilla and Reamas are recovering from surgery at the Schneider Intensive Care Unit, in good condition.
